How e-signatures work

What a client does to sign a proposal or contract, and what that means.

When a client accepts a proposal or contract, they sign electronically in their portal:

  1. 1

They type their full legal name

That typed name is their signature.

  2. 2

    They confirm they agree

A statement beside the box says that typing their name is their electronic signature, legally binding and equivalent to a handwritten one.

  3. 3

    They accept or decline

They can add an optional note for you first.

  • The response is recorded against the proposal or contract with the time it happened, and shown to your team.
  • Clients can only respond to items sent to their own company.
  • A decline is recorded too, with their note, so you know why.
Typed-name signatures are widely used for everyday agreements. If your situation needs a specific type of signature (certain regulated or cross-border documents, for example), check with your lawyer.
