Inviting your first client

Add a client, give their main contact portal access, and send the branded invite.

  1. 1

Open CRM → Clients and press Add

Choose Add client. Enter the main contact's name and email, and optionally a company, phone number and internal notes only your team can see.

  2. 2

    Leave portal access on

Enable client portal access sends that person a branded invite email. Turn it off if you only want a record for now; you can invite them later.

  3. 3

    The client opens the invite

The email link works for 24 hours, can be opened on any device, and takes them straight into their portal. No password to create.

  4. 4

    Check it worked

In the client's page, the contact shows Never logged in until they first open the portal, then Last seen.

A client is a company record. A contact is a person at that company who can sign in. The person you enter first becomes the company's owner contact, with full access.

If they didn't get the email

  • Open the client, find the contact and use Resend invite (the paper-plane icon, or the ⋯ menu). A fresh 24-hour link is sent every time.
  • Ask them to check spam, then confirm the address is spelled correctly.
  • See Client can't access their portal for the full checklist.

Next, add more contacts at the same company, or create their first project.
